Bethanie Mattek-Sands is an American professional tennis player. She has won nine Grand Slam titles (five in women’s doubles, four in mixed doubles) and an Olympic gold medal. She was a world No. 1 in doubles.

She was raised between Neenah, Wisconsin, and Florida. Her parents are pictured here. Bethanie is married to insurance executive Justin Sands.

Bethanie’s paternal grandfather was named John W. Mattek (the son of John Mattek and Celia). John was born in Wisconsin, to a Bohemian father, August Mattek, and to a mother from Wisconsin, Minnie, whose parents were German. Celia was also born in Wisconsin, to Bohemian parents.

Bethanie’s paternal grandmother was named Elsie.
