You know it bugs me when people say “If you have a drop of black in your black” NO!! If you have a drop of black then you have a drop of black.I don’t hear them say the same about having a drop of white….And if you really want to get technical that rule of being considered black if you only have a drop in you was made back in the slavery days by the whites….See me I’m PR&Cuban…..and that what I’ll always be NOT technically black or technically white or native american oe all but PR&Cuban…..and I really don’t wanna get into the phone term “African American” cause most black people don’t even have an african in their family in site…….and so what Ashanti is a african name…..so is Kendra and plenty white girls have that name…..and no im beyond far from racist….I’ve had plenty of black boyfriends……. a lot of my cousin are part black and even my brothers…..who cares what she is really???Does it matter are you gonna lose sleep over it???But you know what does annoy me Mariah Carey is part Irish and Black and only identifies with being Black……why not bother…..that like disowning apart of you….so who knows maybe ashanti does the same thing….personally don’t care and not a big fan….

Black people would not accept Ashanti any more or less if she claimed to be mixed but to some people, if their parents are black then they themselves just say black because it is prodominant. who wants to go there in an interview…”Umm yes im 65% black 15% hispanic and 20% chinese” why would that be necessary?

wow…reading all these comments made me sick, its hard to believe how people perceive others accordng to etnic background, especially blacks. I knew people looked down on us, but boy, I didnt know to this extent. Just because you don’t have to reveal yourself, does not mean its okay to be so ignorant. I am a black person. My family is from Belize. I never heard the term afro-belizean, and if there was such a term, i would have to say not quite, because my paternal lineage is european. does that mean im not black? of course not. I am. But it also doesn’t mean that I dont have danish ethnic background. Just because you see one thing, don’t be so ignorant to assume that there arent other rich ethnic cultures there. I don’t mean to offend anyone but that is just ignorant. Damn near everyone is mixed, and especially black people. Its very rare that youll find a Black person whose only ancestry is from Africa with only African blood. Uncommon , especially for Blacks in the United States. Im juts asking that you think before you speak, it sounds like some of you are racist and hate to believe that Black People are not who you want them to be.
