In an interview with Regis & Kelly, that I found on YouTube, Regis commented on how the first time he saw her he thought she looked Swedish. He asked her if she was Swedish and she replied with ‘German’.
So she DEFINITELY is at least part German. I dunno about Irish.

Hey guys :)
I´m german and studying german language, literature and communication and tried to figure out a bit about that name. Wasn´t easy! :)
But actually it seems not to be more then “be peaceful” or “peaceful person” or “brings peace”.
I think it could be seperated in two parts which would be sey and fried. Fried comes from the german word “Frieden” [Fried - Friddo (1828) - Fride (1353)] and the jewish word “frid” which means Peace.
Secondly there is an german word called “sei” which means “be”.
Maybe it´s possible to explain it that way :)

The Name Sander comes from Germany, Netherlands and England. It comes from the first name “Alexander” which means something like “guardian” or “protector”.

According to House of names, Sander and also Sander(s) is German/Dutch/Irish.
Amanda’s aunt (who is probably ‘Sander’) lives in Ireland, and in the interview provided, Amanda said that she visits Ireland a lot. This probably means she has Irish relatives, which wouldn’t be surprising.
Question, do we know for certain that Amanda’s maternal family are American?
They might be Irish.

We know, that parts of her family are american and obviously parts are not :) Surname ‘Seyfried’ is defenetly german, surname ‘Sander’ could be german, irish, dutch or english. That´s all we know and probably all we´ll EVER know :P Amanda herself just mentioned that her surname is german and that she has relatives in Ireland. All in all she might have family backgrounds in germany and ireland and amerika and and and.. There´s not just one option, is it? :)
But after all.. Who really cares? Lets just watch her movies :P

i was wondering what someone mentioned about amanda’s very “german” look. can anyone explain? From looking at her, how can you tell she is german; like what facial features are very german-like? I’m curious.

I dont think she ‘looks’ German at all. Jennifer Garner and Gisele Bundchen are German and you can definitely tell with them- strong noses and jaws, exotic cheekbones, blonde hair (well Jen had dark blonde/brown hair before anyway but they have the same coloring). Amanda I would have guessed was English/Irish/Scottish, myself.

Everyone knows Eastern European women are the most beautiful women in the world!!
They have the lips the cheeks the eyes and their perfect bodies! Everyone wants them. I am European and obviously know what I am talking about.
Besides, Western women are not particularly known for their beauty. Especially here in Berlin my hometown and capital you can definitely tell die diffrence. But there some are exceptions..

I am from Poland and have to admit after my visit to Germany that german chicks are very pretty . After all Claudia Schiffer is german . I saw more top looking girls in Frankfurt and Stuttgart than in Poland . Wyluzuj zuzanna .
