Alex Kurtzman is an American film and television writer, producer, and director. He has directed the films People Like Us and The Mummy (2017), co-written the Transformers and Star Trek reboot film franchises, as well as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014); and co-created the shows Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. He often works with Roberto Orcí.

He is married to Samantha Counter. Samantha’s father was labor attorney Nick Counter, who was a long-time president of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

Alex’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Rubin.
